Getting your pages ready for AI Overviews and answer engines
Answer engines — Google's AI Overviews, Bing, and chat-style assistants — increasingly summarise the web and cite a handful of sources. Being citable is becoming as important as being rankable.
What answer engines look for
- Concise, self-contained answers near the top of the page.
- Clear structure: descriptive headings, short paragraphs, lists and tables.
- Structured data (schema.org) where it fits — FAQ, HowTo, Article.
- Trust signals: a named author, freshness, and verifiable facts.
A quick readiness checklist
- Does the page answer the core question in the first screen, in one or two sentences?
- Are there headings a model can map to sub-questions?
- Is there at least one comparison table or list that summarises the key facts?
- Do you expose author, date and sources?
SerpTune scores each page you analyse on these answer-engine signals and tells you which quick wins to fix first.
